Web Terms and Conditions

We are very open and very fair about our general terms. You won't find us hiding what you can expect from us and what we expect from you in amongst a ton of legal mumbo-jumbo.
We work with hundreds of people every year who are thrilled to work with us on the below terms. However, if there is something there that you really can't work with, please let us know before the project commences and we'll see what we can do.

What you get from us:

All projects start with a planning consultation in which work with your to identify what you want from your web site, who your target audience is and what features and content are needed to for fill your aims.
For content mange sites we can also, where needed, provide you with training in how to use your DrupalĀ® interface, and set up multiple user login with different privileges. So the boss gets over all control but can still delegate if needs be.
A years worth of free hosting! On the house. Aren't we a nice bunch.
The rights to use and distribute any of the graphical work that we produce for you with the exception of licensed stock photography or stock icons that you ask us to use (we can't let you sell other peoples work - sorry!)
The HTML code to your website (the stuff that makes your site look and function the way it does). It won't be very exciting for you to look at, but it's yours!

What you don't get:

Whilst you do get the rights to all of the graphical work and the HTML we produce for you, you don't own the software that runs your content editing and website management.
This is because tools like this cost tens of thousands of pounds to produce - so rather than you paying for it, we give you a free, lifetime lease of our own editing tools, so long as you continue to host your website with us. If you do want your own tools built for you, we can do that for you too!
In the event you want to say goodbye to us and move on, you are of course entitled to an HTML only copy of your site to take away and use as you will.

Money:

A huge amount of time and effort is needed for us to get every new project going. We've got strategic planning meetings to have, design brainstorming sessions to run, plenty of emails and probably phone calls with you and lots of fancy coding & mouse clicking. That's why we ask for 50% payment up front. You will have 14 days to test your site and give us feedback. Assuming there are no required changes, an invoice for the remaining 50% of the project will be sent to you, to be paid within 14 days (unless otherwise agreed). If you have made comments, we will endeavor to reply and where necessary amend your site as quickly as possible, and give you notice when this is done. We'll then give you a further 2 days to confirm that your comments have been taken into consideration before invoicing you.
If you have a 'second round' of comments, we're happy to hear them but we won't be able to implement them until we've settled up. So make sure you thoroughly check your site during your 14 day period.
Our quote to you will assume that we are allowed to place a small link or unobtrusive graphic at the bottom of your website - telling people who built your fantastic site. If this is something you really don't want, please let us know in advance and we'll re-quote you.

Timescales:

Our responsibility: To the utmost of our ability, we'll stick to the time-frames that we set out at the start of the project. There are only two things that would stop us meeting our promise, 1) a freakish disaster (such as an office fire) or 2) You not keeping your end of the bargain...

Your responsibility:

Yes, that's right - the responsibility goes both ways. During your project you will be required to have input, to provide resources (website content, logos etc where appropriate) and to sign off our work. We simply can't meet our deadlines if you don't help us!
If you badly miss a deadline, the project could be heavily delayed. If you back your project into another project's allocated time we have to do fancy juggling to keep everyone happy and unfortunately that may cost you money.
